Swamp Tour

On June 1 we were able to go on a swamp tour with Rita and Tricia. Here are some pictures from our adventure!

Damien doing a little dance because he was so excited to go see some alligators!

Here he is in the car. We brought hats because we thought the boat wouldn't be covered. Damien decided to try my hat on and make this really cute face.

Here we are on the boat with Captain Jack. He was hilarious and talked with a thick accent very quickly so a lot of the time we had no idea what he was saying.

Captain Jack fed this alligator a hot dog. She (the alligator) was about 10 feet long. She was a big one.

Captain showing us the crawfish trap.

This is what the boat looked like that we were in.

We saw quite a few blue heron while we were there. They are huge birds.

The swimming dock. Yes, they really do go swimming down there with the gators.

Lily pads in full bloom.

My artistic photo for the trip. A dragonfly resting on the lily pad.

Water snake.

The beautiful swamp. It was a great day for our trip. It was nice and sunny without being too hot.

I thought this little house was painted such a fun color.

These guys were having a crawfish boil. The guy in the picture is stirring a huge pot of them.

A nice place to take a bath. (That's a bathtub tied to the tree.)

The Sugar Shack!

The funniest thing of all, these people are transporting a refrigerator to their house in the swamp. The only way to get anything down to some of these homes is by boat.

We had a great time!

That looks like so much fun. I would love to go down to New Orleans at some time, it seems so interesting
